science centre, Dec 1i met ghee kian at tampines mrt and guan zhong, his brother and khoon hwa joined us in the train.gz's brother looks scarily alike as him. it's like the exact replica of gz when he was sec 1. now gz's sec 2 moving up to sec 3, he has gone through a massive makeover, which includes him spiking his hair and wearing all black. black skinnies. with white sneakers. even i didn't grow up that fast."are we there yet?""no.""are we there yet?""no.""are we there yet?""NO."and so gz's bro pokes him in the armpit to annoy him further. haha. i bet my brother is even more behaved than gz's brother.we alighted at jurong east station and i asked for directions to the science centre. we walked around for a bit- circling the library and kh had the nerve to ask me whether we were heading in the right direction! -.-we walked to a bus stop and took a bus there.ate at Macs (i am so sick of Mac already. SO UNHEALTHY! oily. salty. crowded. ok, but their ice-cream's really good. and cheeseburger.) and bought the tickets.we went to body worlds first, and gk told me the dark, silent atmosphere makes it creepy.i took one look at the first few posters and burst out laughing. this is what one statement said: "The man's penis can bend like a boomerang when inserted to the female's vagina."gk and kh didn't find it funny at all.anyway, i saw foetuses in developing stages until it hit me that these are the actual ones. i was carried away by a sea of emotions. imagine, that small little thing enclosed in the glass can undergo cell division and become a full grown human as the years progess. i was viewing something like the un-living. for all i knew, that tiny baby could be walking, thinking, eating, breathing, sleeping and be just one person amongst the face of the crowd, given it had the chance to grow. so i was in a state of confusion and shock- my hands were covering my mouth, and kh was looking at me weirdly.gz and gk went a way ahead of us; me and kh went much slower probably because the both of us were absorbing all the interesting biology facts. we already know some human body facts and functions. psst, info can be found in Biology Matters textbook. really. i remembered them all!one thing i remembered was (nothing sick or horny, i assure you) was intelligence is measured by the number of neurones in the brain, not the weight of it.*where neurones are nerve cells.
i was scrutinising kh as i read it, trying to calculate the difference between the number of neurones he has and mine. he probably has a thousand more than i have.i saw stomach, intestines, hearts, lungs, nerve fibres, skeletons, brains, muscles, kidneys and god-knows-other organs i never thought existed.there was a gigantic dead giraffe (it's heart is bigger than the size of my head!), reindeer, giant squid and horse. cool eh? all blood red and muscly.while i said in facebook that kh doesn't really have a sense of humor- he tells lame jokes, unfortunately- he mentioned a funny one.me, "whoa! the liver's really big!"kh, "what's that? yao ming's liver?"haha.=========================================================================after that, gz's bro dragged us to some science demonstration.something to do with electricity-like man made lightning? i wasn't paying much attention (see pictures below).the woman, "what gas do you think the balloons are filled with? helium or hydrogen?"me *rolls eyes*," helium duh!"kh, "what the heck. hydrogen's-"me and kh, "flammable!"the woman switched on the electric supply and the electric bolt sparked off a fire- and the balloons exploded.ok. so it was hydrogen. who the hell would fill balloons with hydrogen gas??!!woman *to audience* "so at your birthday party, what gas would you fill your balloons with?"some idiot, "HYDROGEN."alright, if i were a guest, i won't go to his party. =========================================================================we went through different types of exhibits- sound (i did a few cool recordings), marine life, energy, eco-life...kh, "pauline pauline! come see this! you will like it."i stared at him suspiciously, rotating my ankles to get rid of my foot cramps.kh, "really. you would like it."thinking it was some kind of WOW-science thingy, i hobbled into the entrance- and screamed.there was a gigantic poster of a cockroach, and i'm fairly sure there was a moulting stage too.it was sickeningly gross!!! i was pissed so i hit him. gz and gk cracked up. really, even during the science competitions, they never let go of the knowledge of my fear of insects- they take the utmost delight to torment me -.- boys.we also went to the futuristic side- a space exhibit and nano technology (i saw brownian motion!).it's awesome. kh and gz were trying to make waffles breakfast with the virtual menu and refrigerator. a simple few clicks and presses on the touchscreen can bring a piping hot meal or cold dish, whichever you prefer.whoa...can't wait for the future to bring automated fridges then. looking forward to it :)after that, we strolled along the maths department and kinetics garden (i forgot the actual name) and went home, exhausted.haha. we were crapping and catching up on the train. gk and gz's bro were so tired, they sat crosslegged on the train floor.i tried too, but while squatting down, my head banged on the metal pole in the process. twice. and they laughed.my crazy sciency friends! will miss you while i move on! :)
